چکیده

In this study, we develop a semi-automatic system for tracking bubbles in image sequences. The vapor bubbles are generated on the surface of a heated tube in a boiling liquid. The images are taken with a speed of one thousand images per second via a high speed digital video camera. Due to some physical properties such as the testing liquid, the surface structure of the heated tube, temperature, and pressure, there are many kinds of reflections on the bubble images. Our system is robust against these reflections and is able to track the vapor bubble boundaries in an image sequence based on a manual selection of the bubble as a primitive in the first image and under the assumption of a circular shape. After the tracking, the bubble volumes changing in the bubble formation, and the bubble speed after the departure from the nucleation site can be determined. These parameters are important in exploring a heat transfer relationship between a given liquid and a heated tube.

Neural Network Performance Analysis for Real Time Hand Gesture Tracking Based on Hu Moment and Hybrid Features

This paper presents a comparison study between the multilayer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF) neural networks with supervised learning and back propagation algorithm to track hand gestures. Both networks have two output classes which are hand and face. Skin is detected by a regional based algorithm in the image, and then networks are applied on video sequences frame by frame in...

Automatic analysis of 2D foam sequences: Application to the characterization of aqueous proteins foams stability

Aqueous foams occur in several industrial applications including food production. One of the challenging issues in foams study is to evaluate the air bubbles stability. This problem is addressed in the present work using sequences of 2D macroscopic images of aqueous foams carried out in a glass column. Despite commercial softwares that are currently used in microscopy, the automatic analysis of...

Synchronized High-Speed Video, Infrared Thermometry, and Particle Image Velocimetry Data for Validation of Interface-Tracking Simulations of Nucleate Boiling

Nucleation, growth and detachment of steam bubbles during nucleate boiling of a water pool at atmospheric pressure is experimentally investigated using a combination of synchronized high-speed video (HSV), infrared (IR) thermography and particle image velocimetry (PIV). The heater is a thin (<1 m), horizontal (20×10 mm 2 ), resistively-heated, indium-tin-oxide (ITO) film, vacuum-deposited on a...

Using a Novel Concept of Potential Pixel Energy for Object Tracking

Abstract   In this paper, we propose a new method for kernel based object tracking which tracks the complete non rigid object. Definition the union image blob and mapping it to a new representation which we named as potential pixels matrix are the main part of tracking algorithm. The union image blob is constructed by expanding the previous object region based on the histogram feature. The pote...

Segmentation and Tracking of Deformable Objects in Video

INTRODUCTION Segmentation and tracking of objects in video is of great importance for video-based encoding, observation and retrieval. Applications are found in a wide range of applied sciences; tracking hooligans in a soccer stadium or wildlife animals, segmenting air bubbles in MRI image sequences or analyzing facial expressions. The difference between segmentation of a single image and segme...
